i read an article in which the chairman of starbucks, howard schultz lamented that starbucks had lost its soul, that it doesn't deliver the true coffee experience and instead just churns out coffee impersonally in cut-out, homogenized locations.

wow. he was complaining about the impersonality of the whole thing. hmm. and i thought that was why it existed in the first place.

watched the concert of uap squadra (which was a fun show). the name of the show was premiere and had a movie theme going. the opening number was to gwen stefani's funky rendition of "the lonely goatherd." but before that, they showed clips from the sound of music and played the strains of the opening song, you know the one in which julie andrews was walking through the hills, then turned around with arms outstretched.

sigh, the sound of music. dang if that isn't the greatest movie ever.

a couple of months ago, the lights on the left side of my phone keypad went kaput. it was an inconvenience, but i decided not to do anything because everything still functioned normally and if i typed the wrong key i could always delete.

now the antenna fell off.
