February 4, 2007a driver's tale Posted at 11:15 AM I had a driver bring me to work the other day and he missed Makati. He got on C5 and didn't know where to get out. It's not like he was led astray or anything. I told him to take the route he was most comfortable with. So there we were on the wrong side of EDSA. The building I go to is pretty tall and so I could see it tower in the Central Business District. At that point it didn't seem that I would ever get to work and would spend the rest of the day shopping in Alabang instead. But find it he finally did (although he wasn't so sure where Paseo de Roxas was and turned into Makati Avenue). At the back roads of Sedeno and Valero, he gave an exclamation of recognition. He knew where we were. Because there was a Pancake House in the area. Turns out he was a delivery guy for Pancake House and knew the branches. So the next day, when I went to Ortigas, I did the smart thing. I said we had to go to Pancake House along Pearl Drive and without a hitch, he found it. It would have been hard, I know, to have to plan my routes around Pancake House branches, but that's not going to happen. The driver resigned after a few days. Was it because he found the job too hard? Too confusing? Nope. He resigned because his wife left him. It's stuff like this that makes non-fiction so gosh darned fun. |

titles Posted at 09:07 PM when i first started working where i am now, the people at HR asked me what title to put on my calling card. i gave it some thought then said, "binibining pilipinas world." apparently my job already has a title attached to it and so i couldn't just use any one i wanted. but that's ok, i found something i like better: "asia's most revered leading actress." i'm sure gong li wouldn't mind too much if there were two of us. |
