the power of evap
Posted at 01:05 PM

i just made myself a cup of milk tea. i used regular earl gray tea, a spoonful of sugar, and a healthy dollop of evaporated milk.

to see the milk seep through the tea was very warm and comforting - it was literally watching yumminess spread. the best stuff like sopas and halo halo are made with evap. Put evap on champorado and it's suddenly all rounded out and mellow. Generally I'm a fan of milk, but evap is the king of baking and cooking milks. none of these skim, non-fat, high calcium whatever stuff.

that was my first try at milk tea. i'm going to be looking at trying different kinds of black teas to see which works best - but the evap stays.

evap is the prince of milks. i can't say the king of milks - that title belongs to condensada

poor snake
Posted at 11:41 AM

being in the media industry, i generally look at each and every billboard i pass on the road. that being said, i have one thing to say - what's up with that pops fernandez and snake ad?

i never found her sexy, but on that billboard you can see her underwear, making it even worse. she doesn't look sensual, she looks like she can't breathe (which she probably can't with that snake on her). actually, the snake doesn't look that happy either.

and i see this more than twice a day. sigh.

but that greenwich billboard - the one where the overloaded pizza is crushing this yellow taxi - very clever. very clever indeed

death defying breakfast
Posted at 03:24 PM

so for breakfast i went to that stall in our office caf that serves the cheese steak. i had heard that their pancake sandwiches were also pretty good so i went to check it out.

at that time of the morning their choices were limited so i went with what they called the beefy belly (or was it cheesy belly, i can't remember). in between two pancakes they put - steak, egg, bacon, and cheese. that was like half a million calories right there and a tubful of cholesterol.

it was good, but even the guys who made it were telling me "mam, hwag nyo araw-arawin" - yah, that part i get. but maybe once a month, i'll live

speaking of cheez whiz...
Posted at 05:38 PM

i know many people might find this strange, but you gotta try it: the cheez whiz and sugar sandwich.

recipe:

2 slices white bread

spread both pieces with a good layer of cheez whiz (the regular kinds)

sprinkle with about 1/2-1 teaspoon sugar

press

enjoy

trust me, this is really good stuff.
